NORTH CAROLINA DEMOCRAT SAID BIDEN “CEMENTED HIS PLACE AMONG OUR NATION’S FINEST PRESIDENTS”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) slammed Democrat Roy Cooper following his announcement that he would be running for U.S. Senate in North Carolina. The NRSC also released a new video highlighting how Cooper’s liberal record would be a disaster for North Carolina.
“Roy Cooper is a Democrat lapdog who spent his time as Governor sabotaging President Trump, doing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ bidding, releasing violent illegal aliens into North Carolina streets, and championing radical transgender ideology,” said NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez. “When Hurricane Helene hit, Cooper’s gross mismanagement left over 100 North Carolinians dead and an estimated $53 billion in damage to businesses, homes, and infrastructure. North Carolina wants a senator who will champion working families, safety, and American values, not an incompetent, far-left career politician like Cooper who will wreck everything they care about.”

Background
- Cooper called Donald Trump, who North Carolina voters supported in three elections, “an existential threat to our democracy and our nation.” He repeatedly praised President Biden, including the day after his disastrous debate. Upon Biden’s decision to exit the race, Cooper said Biden had “cemented his place among our nation’s finest Presidents.” Cooper also called Kamala Harris a “friend,” and was “a top choice to serve” as her vice presidential running mate.
- Under Cooper, in less than a year, nearly 500 illegal immigrants were freed from jails across North Carolina, including those with sex offense, kidnapping, arson, and homicide charges.
- As Governor, Cooper vetoed legislation that would have banned males from competing in girls’ and women’s sports. The issue has continued to plague him since he left office.
- Cooper has faced extensive criticism for his lackluster responses to hurricanes that hit in both the eastern and western parts of the state.
- State Rep. Brenden Jones: “He failed the people of eastern North Carolina.”
- Army Veteran & Podcast Host Dan Hollaway: “We were going back and forth on the phone with the Governor of North Carolina at the time, he’s gone now but he’s a f**king idiot. He didn’t know, he says he didn’t know – What exactly am I supposed to do here? He was asking the NGO, what am I supposed to do here? It’s like, declare a State of Emergency, cede control to the DoD. That’s it, then they’ll take care of it.”
- In the waning days of Cooper’s governorship, he commuted the sentences of 15 convicted criminals on death row, including murderers and a rapist.
- Earlier this year, the NRSC launched an extensive vetting campaign targeting state records related to Cooper, including over 200 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests related to Cooper’s tenure as Governor. The request included records related to Hurricane response and recovery, his family and political associates’ dealings with the state, and various other aspects of state business.
