Ashley Hinson and Josh Turek are set to face off tonight in the first of two debates. If you are covering the event, please consider this quote from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC):

“While Ashley Hinson has a proven record fighting for Iowa’s families, farms, and businesses, Josh Turek skipped nearly 60% of votes in Des Moines. When he did show up, he supported radical policies that hurt farmers, advanced the Green New Deal agenda, and gave benefits to criminal illegal aliens,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “The choice couldn’t be more clear in November.”

Josh Turek is a far-left radical who can’t be trusted to show up to work:

  • Josh Turek skipped nearly 60% of all votes in the State Legislature—including nearly 75% on agriculture votes just this year like the Iowa Farm Act.
  • Turek is bought and paid for by Chuck Schumer, who has dumped nearly $16 million into this race through his dark money group, VoteVets.
  • Turek supports open-border policies. He wants to grant mass amnesty, give illegal immigrants the right to vote, supports slashing border patrol funding, and voted against legislation that would penalize law enforcement agencies that fail to work with immigration officials.
  • Turek’s voting record has created devastating headaches for Iowa farmers. He skipped the farm bill vote, introduced legislation creating more bureaucratic red tape for farmers, voted to allow climate-emission lawsuits targeting farmers, and voted to allow imitation-meat labeling.
  • He has championed transgender surgeries for children, supports men in girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms across Iowa schools, and has empowered faculty and staff to mislead parents about their own children’s gender identity.
