NRSC Statement on North Carolina Democratic Senate Primary
Washington, D.C. – The National Republican Senatorial Committee today issued the following statement on the results of the North Carolina Democratic Senate Primary:
“Cal Cunningham is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chuck Schumer’s liberal dark money groups,” said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “The price tag for Cunningham’s political soul was nearly $14 million, ‘misleading‘ and ‘mostly false‘ claims about his dependence on corporate sugar daddies, and completely selling out to the extreme-left socialists who have taken over the Democratic Party. There is no doubt North Carolina voters will reject him this fall.”
Cunningham’s campaign spent approximately $1.2 million on ads for the primary. Outside groups, including the DSCC, VoteVets, dark money group VoteVets Action Fund, and Super PAC Carolina Blue spent nearly $13 million to boost Cunningham’s candidacy.
Cal Cunningham recently agreed to support whoever is the Democratic nominee, even if it is socialist Bernie Sanders.
