NRSC Statement on Sweet’s Maine Senate Announcement

Washington, D.C.— Following today’s U.S. Senate campaign announcement by lobbyist and failed gubernatorial candidate Betsy Sweet, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) issued the following statement:

“Susan Collins has the most bipartisan record in the U.S. Senate because she works with members of both parties to deliver results for Maine families,” said NRSC spokesperson Nathan Brand. “Meanwhile, lobbyist Betsy Sweet is a radical left-wing activist committed to making the loony policy dreams of Nancy Pelosi a reality.”

Senator Collins is the most bipartisan Senator in the country, according to the Lugar Center Bipartisan Index. Because of Collins bipartisan accomplishments for Maine, voters have re-elected her by larger and larger vote margins each cycle.

Lobbyist Sweet is the second candidate to join what will be a crowded Democratic Senate primary. She joins Saco Lawyer Bre Kidman.
