For the past couple weeks, an ax-brandishing Mexico Joe Donnelly has been trying to convince Hoosiers that he’s a conservative, despite what his voting record shows. But still trailing in the polls a week out, he’s abandoning that strategy. Enter former President Obama.
Mexico Joe is bringing Obama to Gary the weekend before the election in an attempt to drive up turn out among the liberal base. Interesting strategy for a Democrat running as a moderate in a state President Trump won by 19 points, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
“Hoosiers weren’t buying Mexico Joe Donnelly’s fake conservative act and a rally with Obama will only reinforce that Mexico Joe stands with liberal Democrats, not with Indiana,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Sunday’s visit will only serve as a reminder that Mexico Joe is a loyal partisan Democrat who supported all of Obama’s worst policies from the Iran nuclear deal to job-killing regulations.”
