Vulnerable Senate Dems Remain Silent

Washington, D.C. – Today marks one year since 13 American heroes were killed in Biden’s and Senate Dems’ botched Afghanistan withdrawal.

The disastrous, deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan was a national embarrassment on an international stage. Not only did we lose these brave servicemembers, but we abandoned allies, and surrendered the country to an oppressive regime that has since committed horrible injustices to women and minorities. It’s so bad that some in the military community think that the country has fully reverted back to how it was pre-9/11.

Now, one year later, Senate Democrats – those tasked with foreign policy oversight – have swept the whole incident completely under the rug. In fact, they’ve been so silent that the Administration circulated a memo touting the whole dark episode as a positive!

As vulnerable Senate Democrats scramble for good news to tout in their re-election contests, many are pretending that foreign policy blunders don’t exist. But, for many who have friends and family serving in harm’s way and the loved ones of these 13 servicemembers who were killed at the Kabul airport, it is never out of mind and people should be held accountable for the mistakes that led to last year’s catastrophic and deadly withdrawal.

Where is Raphael Warnock, Maggie Hassan, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, Michael Bennet, Richard Blumenthal and Patty Murray one year later? Silent.
