Patrick Murphy’s resume has already been picked apart – and his defense failed to withstand the truth test.

But Patrick Murphy refuses to back away from his lies about his work experience before running for Congress. And when the Miami Herald editorial board put him on the spot, Murphy couldn’t answer the most basic question about the small business he claimed to build: is it still operational?

That’s right. Murphy, the self-proclaimed small businessman who supposedly built Coastal Environmental Services, doesn’t even know if the company is up and running.

Despite Murphy’s tinfoil-hat accusation that one of Florida’s most respected investigative reporters coordinated with Republicans to smear him, his response to the Herald is be the clearest sign yet that Murphy is incapable of telling the truth about his education and work history.

Murphy’s life of unimaginable privilege apparently can’t buy him an honest answer.

FLASHBACK

CBS MIAMI’S JIM DEFEDE: HE WAS NEVER A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER.
“Portraying himself as an experienced CPA and small business owner has always been critical to the political persona created for his campaigns. They conveyed a sense of seriousness and stability which he otherwise lacked. A CBS4 News investigation into Murphy’s history as both a CPA and a self-described small business owner, however, shows Murphy has in some cases exaggerated his experience and in other instances made claims that were misleading or outright false. For instance, he has never worked a day in his life as a Certified Public Accountant. And he was never a small business owner.” (Jim Defede, “The Making Of Patrick Murphy,” CBS Miami, 6/22/16)

MIAMI HERALD: MURPHY’S DEFENSE DOESN’T HOLD UP.
“In a lengthy ‘setting the record straight’ email to reporters this morning, Murphy’s campaign cited about a dozen aspects of CBS Miami’s story, which it says are ‘completely inaccurate.’… However, some of the points that Murphy’s campaign asserts today are false actually aren’t — including the two key conclusions of DeFede’s reporting: That Murphy never ‘worked’ as a CPA and isn’t a ‘small business owner.’” (Kristen Clark, “Patrick Murphy’s Campaign Responds, Says CBS Miami Story ‘Deeply False’ – But Is It?” Miami Herald, 6/23/16)
