As the Des Moines Register’s Jason Noble reports, the DSCC quickly issued a de facto endorsement of Judge, announcing that she is the chosen candidate of Washington Democrats:

Meanwhile, Senator Rob Hogg, who announced his candidacy last year, has piled up endorsements from nearly every Democrat in the Iowa Legislature.
Complicating matters even more, before she became the anointed candidate of the DSCC, Judge apparently supported Hogg’s campaign – personally and financially.

In November 2015, Patty Judge Said Rob Hogg Was “A Serious Challenge” And “A Kind Of Young, Dynamic Politician That We Like To See.” OBRADOVICH: “And Chuck Grassley, he has several opponents on the democratic side. Do you see any of them being a serious challenge?” … JUDGE: “Yeah, I think Rob Hogg is a serious challenge and we’ll work very hard and he’s a kind of young, dynamic politician that we like to see.” (Iowa Public Television’s, “Iowa Press,” 11/27/15)
- On 9/25/15, Judge Contributed $250 To Hogg’s Senate Campaign. (Federal Election Committee, www.fec.gov, Accessed 3/3/16)
The vocal support from the Washington establishment comes a day after Judge’s candidacy was first leaked to the New York Times – hardly the newspaper of record for Iowa journalism.
The battle lines are clearly drawn in Iowa as Washington Democrats try to bully their way through another primary by anointing their hand-picked establishment candidate.
Ask the DSCC how that’s worked out for them elsewhere.
