Murray Opposes Basic Fairness When It Comes To Loans, College Admissions and Women’s Sports

Washington, D.C. – Thirty years ago, Patty Murray got elected to the U.S. Senate as “a mom in tennis shoes,” branding herself as a fighter for parents and their children. Thirty years later, the opposite has become true.

When President Biden transferred the burden of student loans from wealthy borrowers to the working class of America, he set forth a policy that discriminated against those who never went to college, those who never took student debt they couldn’t afford, those who worked to pay off their student loans, and those who will take out student loans in the future. And this is how Patty Murray celebrated this discriminatory policy:

Yet this policy and other policies Patty Murray supports will NEVER “make sure borrowers are prepared to make payments.” It’s not totally surprising that Murray is for discriminatory and divisive policies in education. Just take a look at her voting record over the past two years:

  • Discrimination Against Asian Americans in College Admissions: Murray voted against a Republican measure that would prohibit funding for colleges and universities that discriminate against Asian Americans in recruitment, applicant review or admissions.
  • Discrimination Against Women in Athletic Competition: Murray voted against a Republican measure that would have prohibited those who were born biologically male to play in female sports.
  • Allowing Racially Divisive Topics to Be Taught to Young Children: Murray voted against a Republican measure that would prohibit the teaching of divisive ideologies like so-called “Critical Race Theory” from being taught in Pre-K and elementary schools.

After thirty years in the Senate, Patty Murray has gone completely out of touch with moms and dads when it comes to the needs of their children.
