Murray Unabashedly Supports Taxpayer Funding of Campaigns, Banning of Voter ID Laws

Washington, D.C. – Patty Murray brands herself as someone who is “working for Washington State,” when in reality she works for Washington, D.C.

For instance, Murray says that the so-called “For the People Act” is “absolutely critical for our democracy.” But this is really the “Corrupt Politicians Act,” empowering Washington, D.C. at the cost of voters in Washington State, voting for it not ONCE, not TWICE, but THREE times last year. This bill would:

This doesn’t come as a complete surprise because Patty Murray has held these views for the entirety of her 30-year Senate career:

  • In 2011, Murray sent a letter to the Department of Justice asking them to investigate voter ID laws, claiming they “jeopardized voting rights” even though getting on a plane, renting a car, obtaining tickets from a box office and getting a vaccine all require a photo ID.
  • In 1992, when she first ran for the Senate, Murray told The Spokesman-Review that she “would consider some public financing of campaigns.”

Patty isn’t for the people; she’s for whatever Washington, D.C. wants.
