After Phil Bredesen was “courted personally” by Chuck Schumer, it’s no surprise national liberals are cheering his decision to run for U.S. Senate.

But in a state President Trump won by 26 points, the last thing voters want is their elected officials being hand-picked by an out-of-touch New York liberal like Chuck Schumer. Schumer’s support coupled with Bredesen’s close relationship with Barack Obama and a lengthy history raising big money for liberals is a warning sign that Bredesen doesn’t represent Tennessee values.

“In ruby red Tennessee, Chuck Schumer’s support is the kiss of death,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “It’s clear Bredesen would rather cozy up to Washington liberals like Chuck Schumer and Barack Obama than advocate for the conservative values of Tennessee voters.”
