Vulnerable Senators Quiet as Biden Surrenders to Russia
Washington, D.C – After years of making senseless political hay over the Keystone XL pipeline, President Biden just greenlit the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia to Germany that will dump billions of dollars into the Kremlin’s coffers. Making matters worse, the pipeline bypasses crucial Baltic state allies that rely on pipeline fees to fund their governments.
While President Biden killed thousands of American jobs by scuttling the eco-friendly Keystone Pipeline, he has just made thousands of more jobs in Russia…and made Vladimir Putin a happy and richer man. Pipelines for thee but not for me, says President Biden.
The President’s decision has been roundly denounced by both Republicans and Democrats as a shocking surrender to Russia, yet vulnerable Democrat Senators have been silent. Republican Senators such as Marco Rubio, Chuck Grassley, Ron Johnson, James Lankford, Mike Lee, and John Boozman have been outspoken and forceful in demanding Germany to not engage with Russia. But where are the voices of Senators Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Maggie Hassan, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet?
Even Senator Maggie Hassan’s less bashful Democrat counterpart, Jeanne Shaheen, has spoken out, saying: “I’ve long contended that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline should not be completed because it empowers the Kremlin to spread its malign influence throughout Eastern Europe, threatens the economic security of our European partners and puts our global stability at risk.”
Why won’t these vulnerable Democrat Senators speak out?

Arrighi: “The only thing Vladimir Putin likes more than appeasement from Joe Biden is silence from U.S. Senators, and he’s getting plenty of silence from vulnerable Democrat Senators. The Biden Administration’s approval of Germany’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline with Russia is an embarrassment and deep insult to the thousands of men and women who would have been employed and benefited from the Keystone XL pipeline. How can vulnerable Democrats like Senators Hassan, Warnock, Kelly, Cortez Masto, and Bennet stay silent as our President surrenders billions of dollars to Vladimir Putin?”
