In one fell swoop, President Trump shattered Heidi Heitkamp’s months-long effort to portray herself as an ally of the Trump administration, blasting her during a rally in Fargo for repeatedly voting against his agenda.

President Trump reminded North Dakotans that when they needed her most, Heitkamp backed Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and Washington liberals instead of standing for North Dakota families. In a state where President Trump won by 36 points and maintains overwhelming support, his attacks on Heitkamp will further damage her failing campaign which has been hit with poor poll numbers and sinking approval ratings.

“After President Trump’s pointed criticisms of Heidi Heitkamp’s failed record, she is left in political no man’s land with a record too liberal for a huge majority of North Dakota voters and not extreme enough for her radical and shrinking left-wing base,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “While Kevin Cramer has never wavered in his commitment to supporting North Dakota values, Heitkamp has gone out of her way to sabotage the President’s agenda and in the process hurt hardworking North Dakotans.”
