The pressure is continuing to pile on for Red State Democrats to support the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch. Now that two of these vulnerable Senators have come out in favor of Gorsuch’s confirmation, it’s time for the remaining Red State Democrats to take a position – will they choose to join Chuck Schumer and Washington’s liberal elite in their filibuster? Or will they listen to voters at home?
Public opinion is strongly with Judge Gorsuch. The Morning Consult/Politico and the Huffington Post/YouGov released polls this week stating Americans support Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation by wide margins. Not only are Americans in favor of his confirmation, a NBC News/Survey Monkey poll found that 54% of Americans are opposed to liberal obstructionist threats to filibuster Gorsuch’s confirmation vote.
The feedback from voters has been loud and clear: they want Gorsuch confirmed as the ninth Justice on the Supreme Court. It’s time for Senate Democrats to represent voters at home instead of playing partisan political games in Washington.
“It is abundantly clear that the American people want Judge Neil Gorsuch confirmed,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Red State Democrats need to do what’s best for their constituents and not join the liberal Democrats’ unprecedented and ill-advised filibuster.”
