Just days after sending out a strange press release touting all the times he voted the Trump-Pence administration, conveniently leaving out his recent vote against tax cuts, Mexico Joe Donnelly took a decidedly different path, attacking Vice President Mike Pence in an email yesterday.
Mexico Joe’s mixed messages illustrate just what a difficult position he’s in this year. While President Trump and Vice President Pence won Indiana by a resounding 19 points, the Democratic base and Mexico Joe’s party bosses in Washington continue to demand his obedience to their agenda of opposing the administration at all costs. Mexico Joe is left walking a tightrope, but his conflicting messages are only making both sides angry.
“Mexico Joe knows that Hoosiers support the Trump-Pence agenda, but he just can’t help himself but show his true identity as a loyal Washington Democrat,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Mexico Joe’s votes against middle-class tax cuts and other key policies show that his loyalties lie with Chuck Schumer and his fellow Democrats, not with Hoosiers.
