Abdul El-Sayed recently published an op-ed in the Detroit News and there isn’t much to say except these positions are insane – even for a radical socialist like Abdul El-Sayed. At this rate, no matter which Democrat emerges from their messy primary, their nominee will be the most liberal Senate candidate Michigan has ever seen.

Abdul El-Sayed’s very own words:

“As a candidate for the U.S. Senate, I went to Minneapolis because I wanted to understand, firsthand, what it means when ICE occupies a city. And I left with one unmistakable realization: ICE is not broken. It is working exactly as President Donald Trump wants it to. The agency is not about immigration or customs enforcement; it is about using the premise of immigration to weaponize an agency of the federal government against our Constitution. It cannot be reformed or retrained. It must be abolished.

“As a public official in Michigan, I’ve worked alongside law enforcement to keep our communities safe. But ICE is not law enforcement — it’s lawlessness in the name of one man’s power. And their wallet-busting budget comes at the expense of dollars we should be spending on healthcare, housing or community safety. Instead, we’re arming undertrained men with bloated salaries to do a job that is making all of us less safe.

“Ask Renee Good’s orphaned son or widow, or Alex Pretti’s parents and fellow nurses. Their loved ones were killed by our own government, to which both victims paid taxes. The justification for ICE is that they were supposed to keep us safe. Instead, they have become the very murderers from whom they’ve vowed to protect us. I spoke with moms and dads in Minneapolis who avoid hospitals, shops and schools because a simple errand could end their lives.

“There is no coming back from this. And anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. You can’t come back from shooting a mother in the face and justifying it. You can’t come back from putting the Nazi slogan “One of ours, All of yours” under your impramateur. You can’t uproot the rot of hiring ill-prepared recruits, giving them minimal training, allowing them to cover their faces and rendering them unaccountable to our constitutional order. You can’t unwind the cultural corruption of detaining American citizens and counting them against an artificial quota.

“Abolishing ICE does not mean abandoning immigration enforcement altogether. It means rejecting a system designed to corrode our constitution and replacing it with one designed to uphold it. ICE was rushed into existence with expansive power and minimal oversight in the wake of 9/11. Two decades later, we are living with the consequences. We can and must secure our southern border, and there is a role for immigration enforcement, but not against the constitution itself.

“I came to Minneapolis to understand what the implications were — to talk to the very people who are standing up and resisting ICE. What I heard was not chaos, but clarity. People are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for dignity, safety and a government that does not turn its power against them. We have a responsibility to stand up. After the violence of the last year, abolishing ICE is not extreme, it is the necessary next step.”
