The ease with which Duckworth votes to raise taxes on Illinois families contrasts all too well with the difficulty she has had to pay her own.

FLASHBACK:

  • In 2012, it was revealed that Duckworth improperly tried to claim two homeowner tax exemptions. Following a Daily Herald investigation, Duckworth was forced to pay the owed taxes and penalties.

We would also like to remind the people of Illinois that Duckworth’s failed record in Congress is littered with votes against measures that would eliminate unnecessary taxes or extend tax deductions. From supporting the estate tax to opposing permanently extending tax deductions, Duckworth should avoid raising taxes as zealously as she avoids paying them.

Tammy Duckworth has already burdened the Illinois taxpayer enough by having them bankroll her legal defense fund; her attempts to improve her award-winning ineffectiveness in Washington shouldn’t entail taxing and spending more of their paychecks.
