Former Pennsylvania Governor and Katie McGinty campaign chairman, Ed Rendell, recently told the Philadelphia Inquirer, __“Unless McGinty and the organizations supporting her can buy $3.5 million to $4 million of television time, ‘she won’t win.’”__
This echoed an earlier cry for help when Rendell told National Journal that pro-McGinty outside groups such as EMILY’s List, “really need to go on TV.”
Worth noting – Rather than detail the ways that McGinty would help Pennsylvanians as a Senator, Rendell opted to highlight superficial and personal attributes of the female candidate, “She’s got charisma, she’s very photogenic, she projects well…”(A bizarre pitch in support of the candidate who tries to make so-called “women’s issues” a pillar of her campaign.)
But not to worry, Rendell’s calls for TV ads from outside groups have been answered!
Except…not for Katie McGinty.
It’s being reported today that Accountable Leadership has placed their first spending of the Pennsylvania Senate race on broadcast TV in support of Joe Sestak, the flawed candidate Democrats want least as their nominee.
Maybe the group was confused by all of the nice things that Rendell has said about Sestak in the past…
