Washington, D.C. – Remember in December when immigration and local officials in Yuma, Arizona, were completely overwhelmed and begging Senator Mark Kelly to take action to end the border crisis? Of course, Mark Kelly did nothing to help – besides admit that maybe Yuma could have used that border wall he voted to defund.

The Washington Examiner is now reporting numbers from Customs and Border Patrol that illustrates just how many migrants crossed the border illegally in December in the Yuma sector. From December 2019 to December 2021, there was more than a 3,525% increase in the number of migrant encounters in Yuma. No wonder local officials were pleading with Kelly to do something to curb the crisis.

Despite this ongoing border crisis in Arizona, Mark Kelly has only worked to fuel the crisis.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “When will Mark Kelly actually do something to end Arizona’s border crisis? Just like when it comes to taking a stance on the filibuster, Mark Kelly is a coward who is too afraid to take action at the border.”
