Moments after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement yesterday, far-left activist groups came out swinging, penning a letter urging every Senate Democrat to reject any of the 25 names on President Trump’s shortlist for the court.
The letter was signed by vulnerable Senate Democrats’ most loyal supporters from Planned Parenthood, End Citizens United and Center for American Progress, all of which have spent big bucks backing their campaigns. So question is: will red state Democrats stand with their constituents and confirm President Trump’s nominee to the court? Or will they double down on their obstruction to appease the radical groups who’ve given big bucks to their campaigns?
“It’s time for red state Democrats to lay their ‘resist’ agenda aside and do what’s right for the American people,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Voters watched in astonishment last year as Democrats shamelessly obstructed Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation to the Supreme Court and they won’t forget to vote out the vulnerable Democrats who pull the same stunt a second time around.”
