Handarly Ochoa is a criminal illegal alien from Honduras arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina for assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated assault against family member with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and a weapon offense.

But Roy Cooper turned North Carolina into a sanctuary state, allowing violent illegal aliens like Ochoa to roam free and put North Carolinians in danger despite his long rap sheet.

Cooper vetoed three pieces of legislation that would have required local sheriffs to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and get dangerous criminals like Ochoa off the streets.

  • Battery of an unborn child.
  • Assault on a female.
  • Assault on a female again.
  • Assault on a female once again.
  • Assault with a deadly weapon.
  • Violation of an active domestic violence protective order.
  • Injury to personal property.
  • Carrying a concealed gun.
  • Purchase of a firearm in violation of an active domestic violence protective order.

“Ochoa should have been immediately deported, but Roy Cooper’s soft-on-crime agenda allowed this violent illegal alien to continue hurting North Carolinians. Cooper’s far left agenda puts criminals first, and has made North Carolina less safe,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
