Fresh off of torpedoing 2018 Democrats’ reelection chances by throwing our troops and children under the bus and shutting down the government for no reason in particular, Chuck Schumer is trying to make it up to them with a big dollar fundraiser in Houston.
Schumer will host a fundraiser tomorrow morning for Democrat Senate candidates, including Bill Nelson, Joe Donnelly and Jacky Rosen. While these Democrats will certainly be grateful as Schumer introduces them to big money liberal donors, tying themselves to the architect of the Schumer Shutdown will not go over well back home.
“These Senate candidates raising campaign cash with Chuck Schumer will remind folks at home that Washington Democrats shut down the government in a partisan stunt that put our national security at risk and left children and seniors out in the cold,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “The least Schumer could do while he’s in Houston, in between collecting checks, is promise to end his continued shutdown threats and stop stalling the disaster aid the city so desperately needs.”
Background:
“Democrats want to make sure that we have equal bargaining, and we are not going to allow things like disaster relief [to] go forward without discussing some of the other issues we care about,” said Minority Leader Schumer. (Floor Speech, 12/21/17)
