This time, they’re holding a press conference targeting Senator Chuck Grassley. According to a New York Times report, the stunt will feature “a group of former Grassley supporters.”

It sounds a lot like this MoveOn.org event held in Des Moines last week, also featuring “former Grassley supporters.” Just one catch: all three of them are registered Democrats.

Washington Democrats have resorted to this: flying in speakers from a MoveOn.org press conference to attack a Republican Senator.

With moves like those, it’s hardly a surprise that Democrats’ efforts to reshape the court without hearing from voters have repeatedly failed:

  • Politico, 5/8/16: “Democrats are getting badly outspent by their conservative rivals in the war over Merrick Garland’s confirmation, suggesting that President Barack Obama’s closest allies in the Supreme Court battle have more bark than bite.”

  • The Washington Post, 4/14/16: "Democrats hit brick wall in Supreme Court fight…the Democrats’ toolbox appears to be emptying quickly."

  • The Washington Post, 4/4/16: "The all-out Democratic advocacy blitz during the two-week recess… has produced no discernible impact…"

  • CNN’s Manu Raju, 4/5/16: "The Democratic pressure campaign isn’t yielding much in terms of results."
