Sherrod Brown has joined his fellow Washington liberals in their unprecedented partisan filibuster of Judge Neil Gorsuch.

Brown made clear that his opposition to Gorsuch was purely political, announcing his opposition just minutes after President Trump’s announcement of Gorsuch’s nomination, making no effort to evaluate Gorsuch’s record or watch his confirmation hearing. It’s clear that voters, however, have a different view, with multiple polls showing strong support for confirming Judge Gorsuch and opposition to Senate Democrats’ filibuster.

As the Senate takes measures to ensure that the Democrat minority cannot block an up or down vote on Gorsuch, Brown has taken to lying to his constituents, saying on a local radio show that such a change has never been done before. Brown, of course, is forgetting that less than four years ago, he joined his fellow Democrats to change the rules to eliminate the filibuster for all nominees to district and appellate courts. Either Sherrod has a short memory, or he’s intentionally misleading Ohioans.

“Instead of listening to voters, Sherrod Brown decided to follow his fellow liberals off of a cliff and join their unprecedented filibuster of Judge Neil Gorsuch,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Ohio voters will remember Sherrod Brown’s senseless obstruction when they head to the polls in 2018.”
