Sherrod Brown’s former colleagues just opposed Jon Husted’s bill to protect Ohioans from higher energy costs. This is the second time Senate Democrats have blocked Husted’s Ratepayer Protection Act.
Looks like Sherrod Brown’s claim that he’ll “require data centers to pay the full cost of their utilities so your bills don’t go up” is just another empty promise.
“After spending 32 years in Washington welcoming data centers with zero accountability and jacking up costs on families, Sherrod Brown is shapeshifting in an election year to try and save face. Brown didn’t fight to lower Ohioans’ costs then and he wouldn’t now,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
Jon Husted is fighting to lower costs. Husted’s bipartisan bill ensures that:
- Ohio families are protected from higher utility bills.
- Companies pay their own way while building the AI infrastructure America needs.
- Companies provide the power they consume and safeguard local water and natural resources.
- America has the superiority we need to compete with China without passing the costs onto families.
Sherrod Brown is a liar and a hypocrite, proving his agenda is just empty promises.
- After 32 years in Washington supporting data centers—including welcoming an Amazon data center and leading the charge to develop technology for data centers—Brown has flip-flopped in an election year to save face.
- Brown used a Google facility in an anti-data center ad, but Brown is funded by Google’s corporate PAC and lobbyists.
- Ohio labor organizations—which used to be Sherrod Brown’s core base—are infuriated with Brown over his demonizing of data centers that bring jobs and economic growth to the state.
