While Tina Smith continues to stay silent about her friend and supporter Keith Ellison’s ties to radical anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, the Washington Post gave Ellison Four Pinocchios (their most dishonest rating) for claiming he didn’t have a relationship with Farrakhan.

Ellison doesn’t seem to think his relationship with an anti-Semite is a problem, recently telling the Washington Post that, “none of his colleagues raised concerns about the Farrakhan story.” Given Congressman Ellison has endorsed Tina Smith, Minnesotans deserve to know why Smith refuses to disavow Ellison and his ties to anti-Semitism.

“Instead of taking a stand against vile rhetoric and hate, Smith has conveniently failed to say a word on the controversy surrounding Ellison or his endorsement,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “It’s abundantly clear to voters that Tina Smith is putting political expediency ahead of doing what’s right, and that’s not the type of leader Minnesotans need in the U.S. Senate.”
