Bill Nelson had a really bad Monday. Not only did Governor Scott announce that he was running for Senate, but Nelson was called out for spreading lies.
From McClatchy: “Bill Nelson spreads wrong information after shootings in Liberty City, Parkland”
Key take away from the courageous Senator: “When asked to explain why he spread misinformation on Sunday, Nelson deferred blame.”
This isn’t the first time Nelson was caught spreading lies during a crisis in his desire to be on camera. In 1985, Nelson was criticized for spreading false information during the Beirut hostage crisis.
From the Orlando Sentinel: “Nelson’s ‘Tough’ Talk On Crisis Is All Hot Air”
“What Nelson had to say about the hostage crisis was remarkable not as news, but as a study in hot air convection, and the strange and contradictory currents hot air can take. It also was a lesson in why government officials should keep quiet during crises like this — for their own protection if nothing else.”
History is clear that Bill Nelson would rather irresponsibly be first in the makeup chair for a TV hit instead of learning the facts.
