Stabenow receives campaign money from a Senator on trial for corruption

Today kicks off Senator Bob Menendez’s trial where he’s facing several corruption charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery and fraud. The corrupt New Jersey Senator, and soon to be convict, has been a long contributor to his Senate colleagues – and he’s funneled money towards his BFF Debbie Stabenow.

Menendez was indicted in 2015 for being bribed with private jets and exclusive trips, but it looks like Stabenow’s cozy relationship with Menendez comes with some perks of its own. Even as recently as six months ago, Senator Menedez’s New Millennium PAC contributed $10K to Stabenow’s reelection campaign.

The biggest questions for Stabenow today are will she return the money she received from the corrupt New Jersey Senator and why did she take it two years after Menendez was indicted?

“Instead of accepting $10K in campaign cash, you’d think Debbie Stabenow would be distancing herself from a colleague facing 14 charges of corruption,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “This is yet another example of Stabenow being a DC sellout and not the humble Michigander she plays when talking to folks back home.”
