The Vindicator reports that while at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Retread Ted Strickland spoke at a forum sponsored by two organizations that “want to eliminate the use of coal.” One of the anti-coal organizations, NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), has already spent more than half a million dollars to boost Strickland’s senate campaign.
This news comes as Strickland fields questions about why he is losing out on union endorsements to Rob Portman. But with stories like this, it’s easy to see why the United Mine Workers of America threw their support behind Portman, despite previously endorsing Ted Strickland in 2006 and 2010.
A report on Thursday from The Wall Street Journal noted that Retread Ted “lashed out” at the unions supporting Rob Portman. An interview with WBNS shows Strickland getting agitated with a reporter who asked him about losing so many crucial union endorsements. WATCH:

And Retread Ted’s union frustrations didn’t stop there. Over the weekend representatives from the Portman campaign attended Hillary Clinton events to pass out flyers highlighting Rob Portman’s union endorsements:
