Following the announcement by U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke that Florida would be removed from the government’s offshore drilling plans, Senator Nelson has spent the last two weeks throwing a tantrum because he couldn’t take credit. Now, after his hypocritical record on offshore drilling came under scrutiny, he’s doubling down on his partisanship by announcing he will obstruct the work of the Senate in order to score political points.

The one thing that has become clear is that Floridians demand action from their elected leaders, not obstruction and grandstanding. After almost a half century in elected office, perhaps Senator Nelson has become completely tone deaf to the people he’s supposed to represent.
