WASHINGTON, D.C. — Texas Democrat Senate candidates have a long history of publicly attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Colin Allred, James Talarico, and Jasmine Crockett are all on the record pushing Democrats’ radical rhetoric that has led to two assassination attempts against Donald Trump, the murder of Charlie Kirk, and now a deadly shooting at an ICE field office in Dallas, Texas.
“Colin Allred, James Talarico, and Jasmine Crockett have called ICE agents ‘un-American,’ accused them of kidnapping, and compared them to ‘slave patrols.’ This radical language is inspiring political violence like the assassination attempts on President Trump, the murder of Charlie Kirk, and now this horrific shooting targeting ICE agents in Dallas,” said NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez. “Texas is a red state that has been on the front lines of Democrats’ open borders policies and it will never elect a radical Democrat that has vilified ICE agents for statewide office.”
Texas Democrats have long history of attacking ICE:
- Colin Allred has called ICE “un-American,” “damaging” and “harmful to our public safety.”
- During Trump’s first administration, at a 2017 campaign event, Allred said, “We’re seeing ICE used as a dragnet force grabbing anyone who looks brown in a community, finding out later whether or not they have documents,” and “This is completely un-American.”
- During a 2018 congressional campaign debate he said, “The way [ICE is] being used right now is, in my opinion, so damaging to so many of our communities because it is leading to fewer reports of criminal activity in some Latino communities because people are afraid that every single report can turn into a immigration issue,” adding “It is harmful to our public safety.”
- In July, James Talarico joined Jen Psaki on MSNBC and said, “we’ve got masked officers in plain clothes, kidnapping people off the street… this should alarm all of us, whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent. This is government overreach at its worst.”
- Jasmine Crockett has said on recent occasions, “When I see ICE, I see slave patrols.”
- In the past month, she has said it on MSNBC and on the Breakfast Club podcast.
