You’ve probably heard of the Full Grassley. Patty Judge pulled off her own version this week – the Full Patty.
In her first week as a candidate, Judge got out of Iowa as quickly as possible, heading to Washington, D.C. for a full week of meetings with Democrat insiders. In addition to sitting down with Harry Reid and joining Senate Democrats for lunch, Judge was spotted at DSCC headquarters this week, rounding out the Full Patty:
Judge’s status as the preferred candidate of Washington insiders was cemented on Friday, when the DSCC all but endorsed her immediately after she entered the race. Now that she’s completed the Full Patty, she can say that she’s met with all of her key D.C. constituents.
Judge and the DSCC are setting themselves up for an awkward primary. State Senator Rob Hogg has been running last year, piling up endorsements from actual Iowans, including nearly every Democrat in the state legislature. And he doesn’t seem interested in laying down for Judge or her Washington party handlers:
‘Iowans want to see a campaign that uplifts our democracy, and I’ve won five elections in a row, I didn’t lose my last election,’ Hogg said in a contrast with Judge’s defeat in 2010 with Culver. ‘I’ve replaced Republicans twice. In every one of those elections I’ve run a campaign that uplifts our democracy and inspired people to vote for me, rather than run a bunch of negative ads that turned people off.’
Congratulations on your accomplishment, Patty Judge.
