As he desperately attempts to change the conversation about his dangerously weak record on national security, the career politician couldn’t help himself by uploading an attack ad yesterday on the "Truth" when it comes to creating jobs.

Unfortunately for Senator Feingold, his record on jobs is just as abysmal as his record on national security.

And, unfortunately for Wisconsinites, job creation for Russ Feingold in the United States Senate led to job creation overseas in China.

FEINGOLD FLASHBACK:

  • In February 2009, Feingold Voted For The $787 Billion Stimulus Package. “Adoption of the conference report on the bill that would provide an estimated $787.2 billion in tax cuts and spending increases to stimulate the economy, plus provisions to prevent the alternative minimum tax from applying to millions of additional taxpayers in 2009 and to increase the ceiling on federal borrowing by $789 billion to $12.104 trillion. The tax provisions, estimated to cost $211.8 billion through 2019, would include extending current accelerated depreciation allowances for businesses, suspending taxes on the first $2,400 of unemployment benefits per recipient for 2009, and expanding a number of other individual tax credits, including the first-time homebuyer tax credit to $8,000. Mandatory spending increases, expected to cost $267 billion through 2019, include an extension of unemployment and welfare benefits, Medicaid payments to states, health insurance assistance for individuals and grants for health information technology. Discretionary spending, estimated at $308.3 billion through 2019 and include grants to state and local schools and funds for public housing, transportation and nutrition assistance.” (H.R. 1, CQ Vote #64: Adopted 60-38; R 3-38; D 55-0; I 2-0, 2/13/09, Feingold Voted Yea)

  • Senate Democrats Criticized A Stimulus Wind Energy Program For Sending 79% Of Its Funding To Foreign Companies. “Senate Democrats lashed out at the Obama administration on Wednesday, saying its stimulus wind energy program creates jobs overseas instead of in the U.S., and they’re calling for the administration to put a stop to it. ‘Today, we are demanding the Obama administration suspend this program immediately,’ said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. The program has already spent $2 billion… Any wind farm created in the U.S. is eligible for stimulus money to put up wind turbines, regardless of where those massive structures are made. Each turbine costs about $3 million, and reaches 40 stories into the sky. An investigation by ABC News and the Investigative Reporting Workshop found that 79 percent of the program’s money has gone to foreign companies, money that Schumer said was ‘federal tax dollars, the stimulus, which was sold as jobs in America.’ The senators are especially alarmed about a project highlighted by ABC News in West Texas that uses turbines manufactured in China. The Texas wind farm is eligible for up to $450 million in stimulus funds.” (Jonathan Karl, “Stimulus Jobs In China? Senators Angry About U.S. Money Going Overseas,” ABC News, 3/4/10)
  • The Stimulus Created Jobs In Countries Like China. “The jobs-to-China theme runs through many Republican ads, including four recent TV ads that claim the stimulus created jobs in China… They are correct to say that the stimulus law created jobs for Chinese workers — even though we don’t know many…” (Eugene Kiely, “Stimulus Jobs in China?” FactCheck.org, 10/29/10)

Back on our shores, Feingold’s deciding vote for ObamaCare will claim far more jobs than his own in the Senate. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projects that the equivalent of 2 million jobs will be lost over the next decade because of ObamaCare. And, in a rare divergence from his favorite politician (besides, of course, himself), Senator Feingold’s parting gift to the people of Wisconsin was a vote against the tax cut compromise in 2010.

FEINGOLD FLASHBACK:

  • President Obama Said Failing To Extend The Tax Cuts Could Cost The County “Well Over A Million Jobs.” “In his weekly address on the radio and the Internet, Obama said that failing to extend the tax cuts could cost the nation ‘well over a million jobs’ and families around the nation would see their taxes increase on Jan. 1.” (Nicholas Johnston, “Obama Says Tax Cut Compromise ‘Good Deal’ For Americans, Will Boost Growth,” Bloomberg, 12/11/10)

Understandably, Senator Feingold wants to totally get away from talking about his dangerously weak record on matters pertaining to our national security and foreign policy.

Free advice for the career politician who voted in favor of higher taxes at least 285 times and saw the national debt increase nearly $10 trillion: your substanceless campaign to return to Washington should also totally get away from your substanceless record on jobs.
