In a huge upset last night, the Democrats nominated a self-avowed socialist who supports the abolition of ICE, wants single-payer health care, and backs a federal job guarantee – and she isn’t even the craziest candidate the Democrats have on the ballot this year.
In the Arizona Senate race, Democrats are running another self-avowed socialist who’s also:
- Publicly called for the end of capitalism
- Called stay-at-home moms “leeches” for relying on their husbands or boyfriends
- Led anti-war protests while wearing a pink tutu
- Lobbied to shut down Luke Air Force base – which supports jobs for more than 85,000 Arizonans
- Backed single-payer health care legislation
- Sponsored a bill to ban leaf blowers (of all things) saying the gardening tool is “dangerous”
- Claimed the “real Saddam and Osama lovers” in the Iraq War were Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush
- Voted against criminal penalties for human trafficking and sex trafficking
- And even tried to restrict the National Guard from enforcing our immigration laws
But as the Democratic Party continues lunching leftward, perhaps nominating two socialist peas in a pod like Ocasio-Cortez and Sinema should come as no surprise at all.
“As the Democrats sprint left, Kyrsten Sinema won’t be able to hide from her calls to overthrow capitalism or her avowed support for ‘Prada Socialism,’” said NRSC Spokesman Calvin Moore. “Sinema has to own up to what Arizonans have known all along: Sinema will always put her loyalty to her party’s extremist ideology over what’s best for Arizona families.”
