Washington, D.C. — The one thing we know about Tim Ryan is that he follows wherever the political winds are blowing. As a 20-year career politician, Tim Ryan’s been all over the map on almost every issue.

Today’s reminder is Ryan’s flip-flop on SALT (State and Local Tax) deductions.

On November 18, 2021, Ryan acknowledged that the SALT deduction provisions in ‘Build Back Better’ were a tax cut for the wealthy, calling it “bullshit.” Less than 24 hours later, Ryan voted in favor of it.

The bill he voted for – the Build Back Better Agenda – increases the annual cap on the deduction for SALT. Because of this, the Tax Policy Center said about two-thirds of millionaires would see an average tax cut of $16,800 in 2022. Not only that, but the bill will also raise taxes on 30% of middle-class families.

When asked about his flip-flop on the SALT deduction during a debate, Ryan claimed it benefited middle-class people in Ohio too. How out of touch is Two-Faced Tim?!

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Tim Ryan’s hypocrisy is no joke. In this case, he calls himself a champion for the working class and said raising the SALT cap was “bullshit” but flip-flopped so fast to vote with his D.C. Democrat bosses to raise the SALT cap and give the wealthy a tax break. On top of that, the bill he voted for increases taxes on millions of middle-class families. Actions speak louder than words and Ohioans can see right through Tim Ryan’s flip-flop bull—-.”
