As Tina Smith starts campaigning for U.S. Senate, she’s encountering a major problem: no one’s heard of her.

Minnesota CBS affiliate WCCO highlighted this troubling finding in a story over the weekend, which cited polling from a 2017 survey that found more than 80% of Minnesotans had no clue who Tina Smith was. Smith’s underwhelming achievements as a Democratic insider have clearly failed to earn the recognition of Minnesota voters, and that’s not likely to change before Election Day.

“Tina Smith’s abysmal name ID makes her one of the worst appointments in history if Democrats intend to keep this seat,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Not only will Smith have to introduce herself to Minnesota voters for the first time, but she will have to do so while defending a voting record that mirrors Elizabeth Warren’s.”
