Troy Jackson’s fellow Democrats just opposed Republican-led legislation to protect Mainers from higher energy costs due to data centers. This is the second time Senate Democrats have blocked the Ratepayer Protection Act, which Susan Collins voted to pass.

Jackson’s claim that data center companies should pay their “fair share” is just another empty promise.

“Troy Jackson will always side with Democrats who choose obstruction over what’s best for Maine families,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “While Susan Collins puts partisanship aside to fight for lower costs, Jackson would be another Chuck Schumer puppet who makes everything cost more.”

Senate Republicans’ Ratepayer Protection Act ensures that:

  • Maine families are protected from higher utility bills.
  • Companies pay their own way while building the AI infrastructure America needs.
  • Companies provide the power they consume and safeguard local water and natural resources.
  • America has the superiority we need to compete with China without passing the costs onto families.
