If you thought President Trump had harsh words for Senator Tester yesterday, you should see what he had to say about Senator Tester in today’s press conference with Angela Merkel. President Trump slammed Senator Tester again for releasing unvetted accusations against Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, who President Trump nominated to head the Department of Veterans Affairs.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Ronny Jackson is one of the finest men that I’ve met over the last long period of time… The false accusations that were made about him by Senator Tester from a great state. I don’t think that state is going to put up with it.”Those were false accusations about a great man… a man that’s given his life to this country and to the military – a great man – who would have been a great leader. Such a tough rebuke from the President is going to continue causing political headaches for Senator Tester who’s locked in a tough battle for re-election in a state Trump won by more than 20 points.
“Senator Tester let politics get ahead of the facts and the voters are going to hold him accountable for it,” said NRSC Spokesman Calvin Moore. “By choosing to obstruct President Trump and spread accusations before even checking if they were true, Senator Tester has shown Montana he’s part of the problem in Washington – and its time for him to go.”
