Shady Katie McGinty, who strongly supports the Iran nuclear deal, still hasn’t.
As The Wall Street Journal reports, the administration’s secret airlift of $400 million in cash to Iran for American hostages "raised alarms at the Justice department":
Senior Justice Department officials objected to sending a plane loaded with cash to Tehran at the same time that Iran released four imprisoned Americans, but their objections were overruled by the State Department…The timing and manner of the payment raised alarms at the Justice Department, according to those familiar with the discussions. “People knew what it was going to look like, and there was concern the Iranians probably did consider it a ransom payment,’’ said one of the people.
Then again, unlike Shady Katie, the Justice Department didn’t need Barack Obama’s help to survive a Democrat primary against Joe Sestak.
Senator Pat Toomey, meanwhile, swiftly slammed the Obama administration’s appeasement of our enemies. As CBS Philly reports:
Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey blasted the Obama Administration after reports that a $400 million payment was flown to Iran that coincided with the release of four hostages imprisoned by the regime…“The American prisoners should’ve been released as a pre-condition to even beginning to have negotiations over a nuclear deal at all. This is a very big deal, a very big change in longstanding US policy. When you pay ransom to people who kidnap Americans, you put a price on all Americans. This administration has created an incentive for people to kidnap Americans and, by the way, the Iranians continue to take prisoners. Why should we be surprised?”
If Shady Katie is willing to accept a $400 million ransom payment to Iran for hostages as a candidate, what would she be willing to accept as a senator?
