For weeks, Heidi Heitkamp and her allies have been pushing a message that she, not Republican Kevin Cramer, is best equipped to partner with President Trump and deliver for North Dakotans. In her most recent ad, Heitkamp even bragged about voting with President Trump over 50% of the time (conveniently omitting she voted with Barack Obama 88% of the time). But one tweet from President Trump destroyed Heitkamp’s phony act.
The Bismarck Tribune said it best writing, “Trump’s tweet may prove to be a blow to Heitkamp’s campaign, which to this point, has promoted and touted in advertisements her ability to vote across party lines.”
President Trump let North Dakota voters know that while Kevin Cramer has delivered massive tax cuts for the middle class and fought to protect North Dakota communities, Heidi Heitkamp voted no and will always vote no when North Dakotans need her most. With her main campaign message in tatters, Heitkamp is left with the sad reality that she’s a Democrat, who spent her time in Washington backing Chuck Schumer and D.C. liberals instead of supporting North Dakotans.
“President Trump hit the nail on the head when he blasted Heidi Heitkamp for being a partisan liberal hell-bent on blocking his signature achievements,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “North Dakotans deserve a Senator who will vote with them all the time and Heitkamp has repeatedly failed to do that.”
