Today, Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine voted to shut down the federal government. The Senators voted against cloture. Had the vote failed, the Senate would have been unable to proceed, and Warner and Kaine would have successfully shut down the government.
“Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine could have put Virginians first,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Instead, they voted for a government shutdown which would have hurt hard-working Virginians, including many who rely on the federal government to be open.”
