Claire McCaskill is still not talking about her close ties to Rick DeStefane after yesterday’s report in the Kansas City Star, for which McCaskill declined to speak with reporters.
The Star detailed DeStefane’s settlement with the Department of Justice for defrauding taxpayers, as well as allegations of neglect that have led to the deaths of patients at his company’s nursing homes. The report also detailed the close personal relationship DeStefane enjoys with Senator McCaskill and her husband, which includes a shared vacation home on Lake of the Ozarks where Air Claire likes to unwind with a watermelon mojito. DeStefane is also a major financial supporter of McCaskill, having donated $61,500 to her Senate campaigns and associated committees. It’s time for Air Claire to put down the mojito and answer questions about her relationship with a Medicare fraudster.
