NRSC Weekly Rundown: TV Ads in NV, MO & WV, Stabenow’s Huge Problem, Small Businesses Thriving Under Trump and more!

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRSC Weekly Rundown:

#SmallBusiness: The thriving job market and low unemployment rate have led to a boom in retail and manufacturing hiring. And with the deluge of positive economic news, small business owners’ optimism is at a record high. With just 88 days until the midterm elections, red state Democrats are surely sweating voting against the GOP tax cuts that have ushered in an era of economic prosperity. The booming Trump economy will be fresh on folks’ minds as the good news continues to pour in through November.

#WVSen: The NRSC released its first West Virginia TV ad of 2018, highlighting Joe Manchin’s transformation from West Virginia Joe to Washington Joe. Since he came to Washington, Manchin has become just another Washington Democrat, living on a luxury yacht, endorsing the disastrous policies of liberals like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and opposing President Trump on key priorities like tax cuts and building the wall.

#NVSen: The NRSC also released a new TV ad hitting Jacky Rosen for inflating her resume. Rosen repeatedly claimed she “built a business,” yet when multiple news organizations looked into her story, they couldn’t find evidence she built anything. Rosen’s so-called “business” had no name, no employees and no license. Now, Nevada voters have no trust in Rosen’s word.

#MOSen: Josh Hawley easily won the Republican nomination for Senate in Tuesday night’s primary and will face Claire McCaskill in the general election this November. In a statement, NRSC Executive Director Chris Hansen said, “Josh Hawley has established himself as a conservative champion for Missouri families, and we have no doubt he will beat Claire McCaskill this November.” And the day after the primary, the NRSC debuted its first 2018 TV ad in Missouri, reminding voters that McCaskill has gotten rich at taxpayers’ expense. Since McCaskill was elected, her husband’s income from federally subsidized housing increased from $17,000 to as much as $1.1 million, and his companies received an astonishing $131 million in subsidies.

#MISen: Combat veteran John James was victorious in Tuesday night’s Senate primary election and will face Debbie Stabenow this November. NRSC Executive Director Chris Hansen released a statement saying, “John James has a tested record as a businessman and conservative advocate in Michigan, and we are confident he will defeat Debbie Stabenow this November.” Stabenow now has a huge problem on her hands. In addition to facing James in the general election, she also has a very undisciplined running mate on the ticket this fall, Gretchen Whitmer, who was caught on camera saying she wants to abolish ICE. Does Debbie agree with Whitmer and think we should abolish ICE? Or is she going to enrage her base and running mate and say nothing?

#TNSen: Marsha Blackburn released a new TV ad this week reminding voters she is the only Tennessee Senate candidate who will stand with President Trump and fight for the policies Tennesseans overwhelmingly support. Meanwhile, Phil Bredesen is still dead-set on trying to portray himself as a Republican, releasing a deceitful new ad focused on courting GOP voters. But no matter how hard he tries, Bredesen can’t change the fact he’s spent nearly half a million dollars funding left-wing candidates like Hillary Clinton and backing radical policies like government-run health care and refusing to get tough on illegal immigration. Last night, The Huffington Post reported that Congressman Steve Cohen wished Marsha Blackburn would jump off a bridge. The violent remarks were made during Phil Bredesen’s prayer breakfast earlier this month, and are the second example in as many weeks of Tennessee Democrats insulting and attacking President Trump and his supporters.

#AZSen: Kyrsten Sinema released a new TV ad feigning concern for Arizona’s rising health care prices. But what the ad doesn’t mention is that Sinema is to blame for the skyrocketing premiums. Sinema’s disastrous record of support for Obamacare has left Arizona’s health care system in shambles, and her support for Bernie Sanders’ $32.6 trillion single-payer plan would make it even worse. In a new profile for ABC Tucson, Sinema brazenly declared one of her top priorities if elected to the U.S. Senate would be protecting Arizona’s military bases. Too bad Sinema’s record doesn’t back up her words. She not only gave her full support to shutting down Luke Air Force base and its 85,000 Arizona jobs, she also led anti-military protests in Arizona.

#FLSen: This week, Bill Nelson met with veterans in Panama City trying to convince them that he’s been a strong supporter of the military and our vets. But in his nearly half a century of being a career politician, Nelson has voted against Florida veterans time and again. On top of that it’s been over 50 days of silence from Nelson on whether he’ll accept invitations to debate Governor Rick Scott this fall. But back in 1990, when Nelson was running for governor, he lambasted his opponent for dodging a debate, saying, “the people of Florida are due an open discussion on the issues, and he’s not been providing that.” To cap off a terrible week, Nelson received adeluge of bad press after making an alarming statement that Russian hackers had already penetrated some Florida voter systems, then refusing to clarify what he meant, citing classified information. Nelson’s comments set off a scramble, but the Senator has gone into hiding and won’t answer questions.

#WISen: Tammy Baldwin just keeps proving how out-of-touch she is with Wisconsin families. Over the weekend in an interview with WISN, Baldwin said she’s “not worried” that her single-payer government-run health care plan would cost taxpayers $32 trillion, and admitted it would require massive tax increases on Wisconsin families. Baldwin may not be worried, but the families and small businesses who’d be forced to pay the costs sure are! Her radical plan would require gargantuan tax hikes and leave Wisconsinites spending more money for lesser quality care, but Tammy Baldwin just doesn’t get it.

#NDSen: With her poll numbers tanking, Heidi Heitkamp is attempting to reinvent herself as a border security hawk, desperately claiming she’s “always supported increased and enhanced border security along our southwest border with Mexico.” But no matter how hard she tries, Heidi Heitkamp can’t shake her liberal voting record on immigration. She’s spent her time in Washington opposing President Trump’s wall and failing to crack down on sanctuary cities.

#NJSen: Disgraced Senator Bob Menendez has a history of using his position on the Foreign Relations Committee to help his “friends” (at least those who bribe him). So New Jerseyans should be concerned with a new report from the PhiladelphiaInquirer that his top campaign aide is simultaneously lobbying for the government of Qatar. After Menendez accepted bribes from Dr. Melgen to intervene in matters at the State Department and other government agencies, can he really be trusted around foreign lobbyists?

NEWS AND NOTES:

The Hill: Strong job growth drives home choice for voters this election

Voters will have a simple choice this November. Either they are voting for a continuation of the labor and economic growth seen over the last year and a half, or they are voting against it. They are either voting in favor of the interests of hardworking American taxpayers or against them. READ

Gallup: U.S. Small-Business Owners’ Optimism at Record High

U.S. small-business owners are more optimistic now than at any point in the 15-year history of the Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index. In the latest quarterly survey, which measures small-business owners’ attitudes about a wide variety of factors affecting their businesses, the overall index score is +118. The Hill: Sorry Pelosi, American workers really are better off under Trump

Meanwhile, middle-class workers are better off because they are paying less of their earnings to Uncle Sam, thanks to the Republican tax bill. The Tax Policy Center stated that middle-income households will see taxes go down by $900 this year. Those are real savings that help pay the bills, just like wage hikes. In one of her more mystifying pronouncements, a few weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi dismissed the dropping unemployment rate, saying, “It’s about raising — wages rising in our country so that consumer confidence is restored.” READ

Nevada Independent: NRSC releases new ad focused on Rosen’s one-woman consulting business

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is up with a new television ad today targeting Rep. Jacky Rosen’s one-woman consulting business that she operated more than a decade ago. The 30-second spot features Rosen’s face on a yellow balloon and says that her campaign is “full of hot air” for touting that she “built a business” when she ran a one-woman, unnamed consulting operation. The ad is backed by a six-figure buy and will run in Reno starting today. READ

WFB: NRSC Releases Scathing Ad Against Manchin for Having ‘Betrayed’ West Virginians

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a new ad this week accusing Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) of leaving West Virginians behind to support the liberal policies of Democrats in Washington, D.C. The 30-second ad, titled “Say it Ain’t So, Joe,” is the NRSC’s first West Virginia TV ad of 2018, highlighting what it describes as Manchin’s transformation from “West Virginia Joe” to “Washington Joe.” READ

Kansas City Star: Conservative women in Missouri support Kavanaugh. Will McCaskill listen?

If she listens to Missouri, she will vote for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who is imminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court. He is a judge who is interested in upholding the Constitution as written, instead of abiding by the so-called “living Constitution” judges can manipulate to fit their policy preferences. READ
