It’s now been 50 days of silence from Bill Nelson on whether he’ll accept invitations to debate Governor Rick Scott this fall.

But back almost thirty years ago in 1990, when Nelson was running for governor, he couldn’t keep quiet about the importance of debates, accusing his rival of dodging a “high-level debate.”

Nelson even went on to say, “the people of Florida are due an open discussion on the issues, and he`s not been providing that.”

And well, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

“1990s-era Bill Nelson was right: the people of Florida are due an open discussion on the issues,” said Camille Gallo NRSC Spokesperson. “Now we look forward to 2018-Bill Nelson’s decision to join Governor Scott for three debates and provide Floridians the high-level debate they deserve.”
