As the bad headlines continue to pile up for Mylan, the company’s best friend in Washington, Democrat Senator Joe Manchin, sure has been quiet. But Manchin’s Senate colleagues are becoming increasingly vocal about the pharmaceutical giant.

In an email to supporters this week, Manchin’s Senate Democrat colleague Tammy Baldwin detailed her outrage over Mylan’s EpiPen price gouging, noting that the company raised the price of the lifesaving drug by more than 500%. She also notes that the company provided no explanation until its CEO was called out by Congress. That CEO is Heather Bresch, daughter of Joe Manchin. What has Manchin, who has received over $127,000 in campaign cash from Mylan during his Senate career, had to say about the controversy swirling around his daughter’s company? He asked his colleagues to be “open-minded.”

As the controversy surrounding Mylan continues to swirl, will Joe Manchin join his Senate colleagues in calling out the company’s bad behavior? Or will he continue to be a Washington shill for his favorite Big Pharma firm?
