With Democratic Senator Joe Manchin set to meet with Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh today, North Dakotans should be wondering when Heidi Heitkamp will be doing the same.
After all, 60% of North Dakotan voters want to see Kavanaugh confirmed to the Supreme Court. Yet so far, Heitkamp has refused to schedule a meeting with the eminently qualified jurist. The reason? Chuck Schumer.
According to a story from Politico, Schumer has instructed Senate Dems to ‘Keep your powder dry. Don’t commit. Stay as neutral as you can, as long as you can.’
While Heitkamp continues to falsely pitch herself as an independent voice for North Dakotans, voters are quickly realizing that she is under the thumb of her liberal Democratic Party boss, Chuck Schumer. North Dakotans deserve better.
“Heidi Heitkamp needs to stop the political games and deliver what folks in North Dakota want: a fully functioning Supreme Court,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Instead of waiting for Chuck Schumer to make a decision, Kevin Cramer has stood with voters and strongly supported Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination and that’s exactly the type of leadership North Dakota needs.”
