As more and more of her Democrat colleagues from the Illinois delegation in Congress rush to support Andrea Zopp, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth shouldn’t ask remaining undecideds Cheri Bustos and Dan Lipinski for their endorsement – she should ask for their forgiveness.

It’s difficult to imagine how much more extreme Congresswoman Duckworth can get after her call for 200,000 refugees – 20 times more than President Obama; particularly as the FBI admits that there’s no way to screen all of the Syrian refugees and intelligence agencies abroad warn that ISIS is "deliberately planting terrorists among the refugees."

Yet, in an appearance yesterday before the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board, Duckworth managed to outdo herself.

Speaking to the motives behind the radicalization of terrorists, Duckworth placed blame on Senator Kirk’s efforts to bolster our national security:

DUCKWORTH: …They came as teenagers and they were radicalized because they’ve been on those hot lines with ISIS, because they see people like Mark Kirk demonizing Muslim and Islam and wanting to shut down our borders, and that’s how we turn people against us, is when we play right into ISIS’s hand, so, you know, this process –

MODERATOR: I’m sorry, you think they were radicalized by U.S. politicians?

The name "Mark Kirk" in Duckworth’s dangerously ignorant assertion above can be swapped out for a vast array of bipartisan lawmakers who also support a pause in the intake of refugees – including Cheri Bustos, Dan Lipinski, and, as poll after poll indicate, the American people .

FLASHBACK:

  • Bloomberg Politics: "Most Americans want the U.S. to stop letting in Syrian refugees amid fears of terrorist infiltrations after the Paris attacks…The findings are part of a Bloomberg Politics national poll…"

  • FOX News: "A Fox News national poll…also finds Democrats and Republicans united against President Obama’s plan to accept Syrian refugees…"

  • Gallup: "60% oppose accepting Syrian refugees"

  • NBC News: "Poll: A Majority of Americans Oppose Accepting Syrian Refugees"

  • Quinnipiac University: "U.S. Voters Oppose Syrian Refugees"

  • TIME: "Most Americans Oppose Admitting Syrian Refugees, Poll Finds"

Will Cheri Bustos and Dan Lipinski demand an apology from Tammy Duckworth?
