Washington, D.C. – The Biden-Harris Administration’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra might demur on his support for abortion on demand and how he sued nuns for exercising their religious freedom, but he is unwavering in his support for Medicare for All. This could be more appropriately referred to as Medicare for None since the disastrous, socialist policy would rip away health insurance from millions of Americans.

Xavier Becerra: “I’ve been a supporter of Medicare for All for the 24 years when I was in Congress. This year, as Attorney General I would fight for that if we had an opportunity to put that forward in the State of California.”

Vulnerable Senator Maggie Hassan has spent years pretending to be a moderate, but that couldn’t be further from the truth now that she’s poised to support Xavier Becerra’s nomination. As previously reported, “all that is standing in the way of Medicare for None is Maggie Hassan’s vote.” When push comes to shove, Maggie Hassan is abandoning New Hampshire families and backing Xavier Becerra’s job-killing, Medicare for None agenda.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Maggie Hassan has the power to stop Xavier Becerra’s nearly 30-year quest to create government-run health care. But instead of fighting for Granite State jobs, Senator Hassan is paving the way for Becerra’s socialist Medicare for None agenda that will also rip private health insurance away from millions of Americans and kill jobs across the country. With Senator Hassan’s support, Becerra will no doubt jump at establishing Medicare for None – without any input from Congress. Maggie Hassan has the chance to stop Becerra’s plan in its tracks, which leaves one question for us all: Will Maggie Hassan block Xavier Becerra’s nomination and his radical Medicare for None agenda?”
