Washington, D.C. –  Yesterday House Democrat Leaders finally spoke up and condemned the hateful and destructive comments by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar comparing the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.

Omar’s outrageous comments were met with rebuke from 12 House Democrats (including multiple South Florida Democrats), which Omar richly described as “harassment and silencing.” Yet, Democrat Senators and Senate Hopefuls have been silent on Omar’s recent comments, including Florida’s very own Senate hopeful Val Demings. Her silence was already previously met by frustrated Floridians who were looking to her for leadership, but it doesn’t look like Demings can take a hint.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Val Demings has remained silent, refusing to condemn her “squad” pal Ilhan Omar. Israel is our most important ally in the Middle East, and the only democracy in the region, but Demings doesn’t have the courage to stand up and say that the anti-Israel rhetoric from her colleague is out of line. Floridians need a leader who will have a backbone and stand up for what is right. Failure to speak out will only be seen by voters as silent approval of anti-Semitism.”
