Senate Democrat Candidates Are Melting Down With 100 Days To Go

It was a curious decision to make an appearance at a convention celebrating the nomination of a toxic candidate whose actions are viewed as criminal by a majority of Americans.

Yet, as it turns out, Tammy Duckworth, Ted Strickland, and Katie McGinty turned the tables this week and proved themselves to be Hillary Clinton’s burden to bear.

From a painful prime-time speech to the breaking developments in a whistleblower trial, candidates who showed up to the DNC made headlines…for all the wrong reasons.

After the last 7 days of Democrat implosion, we can’t wait to see what the next 100 have in store.

Tammy Duckworth failed in her desperate attempt to spend nearly $40,000 in hush money to hide the truth about her VA whistleblower retaliation allegations.

  • Daily Herald: "Women reject settlement in Duckworth workplace retaliation lawsuit…a trial set to begin Aug. 15 in downstate Jonesboro could serve as an obstacle at an inopportune time for Duckworth…"

Retread Ted Strickland lost out on three more crucial endorsements this week. Following the United Mine Workers of America’s lead, the Ohio Conference of Teamsters, the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, and Black Lives Matter of Cuyahoga County all announced their support for Senator Rob Portman.

Shady Katie McGinty started off her banner week by shamefully insulting a sitting United States Senator as "an asshole, dammit." The NRSC swiftly launched a new TV and digital ad campaign to expose how her profanity was deemed disqualifying by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The DNC should have just listened to us when we called for the revocation of McGinty’s speaking role; the humiliating prime-time address before millions on Thursday night was compared to a Saturday Night Live spoof:

  • Associated Press: "There was little, if any, crowd engagement as McGinty spoke, and much of her speech was a rehash of foundational campaign talking points."

  • The Associated Press’s Nick Riccardi: "Wow this lady cannot deliver a speech"

  • Billy Penn: "Katie McGinty underwhelms at her hometown Democratic National Convention…Her address to the tens of thousands of people about lifting up the middle class failed to resonate. She wasn’t able to muster crowd reaction at all. The arena spoke over top of her…It’s not what the Philadelphia native needed this week."

  • Boston Magazine‘s David Bernstein: "I hear tell that Katie McGinty is legit, but she sure has trouble getting that across."

  • Breitbart: "Liberals not happy with her speaking skills."

  • FiveThirtyEight’s Harry Enten: "The Democratic machine must really, really, really, really, really, really hate Joe Sestak."

  • The Guardian’s Dan Roberts: "Katie McGinty, running for US senate in Pennsylvania, just gave the Saturday Night Live spoof version of a plastic political stump speech."

  • The Hill: "Winners and losers of the Democratic National Convention… LOSERS Senate candidate Katie McGinty…The Democratic Senate candidate in Pennsylvania hit the headlines when she called the Republican she is hoping to defeat, Sen. Pat Toomey, “an asshole, damn it,” at a union rally on the fringes of the convention on Monday. Amid immediate blowback, McGinty issued a statement saying she regretted the remark and apologizing to Toomey. McGinty addressed convention delegates on Thursday and received a lackluster response."

  • The Hill: "The crowd largely talked over McGinty…"

  • National Journal‘s Josh Kraushaar: "McGinty doesn’t come across as authentic in this speech… needs some work with her speaking style."

  • National Journal‘s Josh Kraushaar: "McGinty sounds like she’s speaking to a kindergarten class, not a convention hall."

  • New York Daily News’s Cameron Joseph: "There’s a reason DC/PA Dems aren’t thrilled with their choice…"

  • The Philadelphia Inquirer: "…much of the rest of the crowd buzzed in side conversations…"

  • Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "McGinty speech at Democratic National Convention panned as ‘plastic’"

  • Roll Call’s Alex Roarty: "Katie McGinty isn’t a dynamic public presence. Think that’s been clear since the very start of her campaign."

  • U.S. News & World Report’s Gabrielle Levy: "McGinty getting pretty much ignored by this room. Probably not a great sign."

  • Vox’s Matthew Yglesias: "Whatever virtues recommended Katie McGinty to the Democratic Party, public speaking is not on the list."

  • The Washington Free Beacon: "A bad gaffe and worse speech have critics wondering whether Dems made right choice with McGinty"

  • The Washington Post’s Stuart Rothenberg: "Katie McGinty huh? Well, that was underwhelming. Yikes."
